Early March on the Northern California coast has a kind of magic that’s hard to put into words: soft light, crisp ocean air, and just enough warmth from the sun to make it feel like spring is quietly arriving. Victoria and Gabe’s engagement session captured all of that and more along the rugged shoreline of Pacific Grove.

From the moment we met up with Victoria and Gabe, their easy connection and playful energy made the entire session feel effortless. We spent the afternoon exploring the coastline near Point Pinos, one of our favorite locations for couples who want that classic Northern California feel.

The rocky shoreline, crashing waves, and views of Monterey Bay create such a beautiful backdrop. Instead of rushing from spot to spot, we leaned into a slower, more lifestyle-driven approach and let moments unfold naturally as they walked, laughed, and simply enjoyed being together.

One of our favorite parts of the session was when Victoria and Gabe paused to explore the tide pools. It turned into one of those unplanned, in-between moments that ended up being the most meaningful. Spotting hermit crabs, pointing out tiny sea creatures, and laughing together like no one else was around fits not only the area perfectly, but the idea of turning your engagement session into a date perfectly.

These are the kinds of moments we’re always looking for. Not overly posed, not rushed - just real connection. It’s also why we love photographing sessions like this as more than just “engagement photos,” but as a snapshot of what this season of life actually feels like.

As the sun dipped lower, the light softened into that dreamy soft evening light that California does so well. Victoria’s dress catching the breeze, Gabe pulling her in close and a walk across an enchanting bridge, it all came together in the most timeless, romantic way.

There’s something about this stretch of coastline that feels both expansive and intimate at the same time. It gives couples space to just be, while still creating a setting that feels incredibly cinematic.
