Picking a proposal location is a big deal! When it comes to proposing to the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want to pick the perfect location. As photographers, proposals are exciting and thrilling to capture. Whether your significant other sees it coming or not, they are filled with excitement, joy, and the beginning of anticipation for the rest of your lives together.

The San Francisco Bay Area has no shortage of jaw-dropping scenery. Here are some of our favorite locations to propose in the Bay Area:

Lands End

Lands End is an easily accessible location in San Francisco! Lands End trail is beautiful from any spot along it. You get a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and (if you go further) the Golden Gate Bridge. With cypress and eucalyptus lining the walk, you'll enjoy every second of proposing here.

Be prepared for cooler temperatures and wind on this side of the peninsula! Parking can fill up in the main lot, but there is a lot across Point Lobos Avenue as well as at the USS San Francisco Memorial that often have availability.

Baker Beach

If you are searching for the ocean view and the Golden Gate Bridge - directly on the beach, Baker Beach offers all of that! It’s a shorter, less intensive hike than trails at Lands End. Note: the closer you get to the bridge, the beach does become clothing optional.

Parking can fill quickly at Baker Beach - an early morning proposal will give you a more intimate feeling to your proposal.

Marin Headlands

Marin Headlands is one of our favorite areas to explore! You can get an incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge from a higher angle - allowing it to be a more central piece to your background. You can also easily find a variety of areas to visit within close distance to the Visitor Center.

In addition to beautiful views of the iconic bridge, you can also face out towards the coves and get more differentiation in your portraits to announce your proposal!

Crissy Field

Crissy Field is a great proposal location if you love the idea of the Golden Gate Bridge views with absolutely no hiking involved. With ample parking, the walk around Crissy Field is quite flat (something rather hard to find in San Francisco). Crissy Field also has beach access if the water is in your proposal vision.

Muir Woods

Home of gorgeous redwood trees - there is no doubt that Muir Woods has some seriously enchanting vibes. If you are seeking an easy area to propose, you can stick to the boardwalk that winds through the woods. Otherwise, Muir Woods is filled with miles of trails to explore and find the perfect location to propose for your personal love story.

Keep in mind, you do need a parking reservation for Muir Woods. During peak season, you'll need to make this reservation quite a bit in advance.

Muir Beach Overlook

Muir Beach Overlook (close to Muir Woods and Muir Beach) offers another gorgeous ocean view. With easy parking and essentially no hike, you get a lot of view for little effort. The panoramic views of the Pacific (and the city peaking out in the far distance) are as unforgettable as the person you are proposing to!

Mori Point

Mori Point is a great location if you’re looking for a mild hike and fun memories along the way. When we found this location, parking availability was quite low as it was right at sunset - but the view was 100% worth it!
