There are few places that are more idyllic than a grove of redwoods on a Saturday morning. Standing among the trees' shadows brings out a level of happiness that we love to document. While not Micaela and Rob's first time in front of the camera, it was time to update their family portraits since their little guy joined the family over a year prior. As the family made their way through the boardwalk that wound its way through the redwoods, we danced along to the beat of their littles' desires. From checking out some downed trees to eventually making our way to the creek beds, photos with little ones at the center always make for an enchanting time.

One of our favorite things about family sessions in this season of life is watching personalities emerge. There is a beautiful unpredictability that comes with photographing young children. From moments of curiosity and bursts of laughter to the comfort of little hands reaching for Mom and Dad. Rather than striving for perfection, we embrace those moments because they tell the story of a family exactly as they are right now.

Years from now, these photographs won't simply serve as a record of what everyone looked like. They'll become a reminder of the way a Saturday morning felt beneath the redwoods, the excitement of discovering something new around every bend in the trail, and the joy of spending time together during a season that passes all too quickly.
