Mark and Matt are self-described as "the epitome of opposites attract". Mark is a California-native, while Matt's roots are in Northern Minnesota. You may recall their engagement session in San Francisco earlier this year. While we have fallen in love with many of our couples' love stories, there is something especially special about theirs. It's incredibly special that we were able to capture both of their home states as a part of sharing their love story.

Mark and Matt got ready together, with their wedding party in one of the many rooms that fills the St. James Hotel. The hotel itself boasts many different maze-like hallways, leading to an often unexpected twist to the historic hotel. Watching Mark's attention to detail and goal for a modern celebration in a Victorian setting come to life was a wonderful experience.

As Mark and Matt's dearest friends and family in their wedding party finished their final touches for getting ready, we headed to the Red Wing Station alongside the Mississippi River. The autumn air was filled with laughter as they shared jokes and stories of Mark and Matt.

The ceremony in the Historic Wing was an intimate, emotional experience. While Mark and Matt shared their vows, not an eye was dry in the room. They each shared about their individual growth in their relationship so far and how it has benefited and grown them together. Through many trials, they showed the world how strong their marriage is starting. With great excitement, friends and family erupted with applause as the couple said "I do", kissed, and joyfully walked down the aisle married!

While awaiting their ceremony space to be transformed into their reception, we snuck away the newlyweds. Their smiles boast of happiness and highlight some of their venue's historic beauty.

Their reception began with fun games from their dj, heartfelt speeches, and the shoe game with a twist!

Mark and Matt opted to do both of their mother and son dances at the same time. Each son showed their personality as they shared a dance with their mothers.

As the music transitioned to All of Me by John Legend, Mark and Matt embraced for their first dance as husband and husband. Their first dance was emotionally-provoking. As we glanced around the room, many wiped away tears. The emotional intensity of the moment was beautiful.

To truly celebrate the togetherness of their friends and family, the dance floor flooded with incredible dance moves.

We are so grateful to have ended our 2021 Wedding Season with Mark and Matt's wedding. We so deeply experienced their wedding day joy that we hope these images can share their joy with you as well.
